Captain’s Column – June 2025
Dear Members,
It is both an honour and a privilege to address you for the first time as Club Captain of Sembawang Country Club.
I am truly grateful for the trust and support shown by the Committee and our members. Sembawang Country Club has always been more than just a golf club — it’s a close-knit community built on shared passion, camaraderie, and a deep appreciation for the game. As we continue to grow and evolve, I am committed to upholding the values that make our club so special.
In the year ahead, one of our key focus areas will be supporting the successful execution of the Club’s renovation plans. These enhancements are a significant step toward improving our facilities and ensuring that Sembawang Country Club continues to offer a top-quality experience for all members and guests. We will provide updates and engage members throughout the process to ensure transparency and alignment with the needs of our community.
Just as importantly, I encourage all members to take ownership of our Club — not only by actively participating in events, but also through the responsible and respectful use of our shared facilities. This includes maintaining a good pace of play, repairing divots and pitch marks, raking bunkers, and generally caring for the course as if it were your own. Small actions by individuals make a big difference in preserving the quality and enjoyment of the game for everyone.
I also look forward to fostering greater engagement among members, supporting both competitive and social golf activities, and working alongside the Management Committee to enrich our shared Club experience. Your feedback and participation will be key to our success, and I welcome every opportunity to hear your thoughts.
A special shout-out and big “Thank you” to COL Goh Wee Tiong for his sterling leadership and passion as Club Captain. He has made a significant difference during his tenure and brought about impactful changes and improvements. We will continue to build on the strong foundation laid by him and the team.
Thank you once again for the opportunity to serve. I’m excited for what lies ahead and hope to see many of you on the fairways soon.
